01 · How it works

Three steps.
One is archaeology.

Field tag
01

Spot a discovery.

A study, a creature, a model or a gadget that suddenly feels brand new and is everywhere on your feed.

Field tag
02

Say the magic words.

Paste a topic, DOI, Wikipedia link or Solana mint. Paste a public X post link to read it directly.

Fossil digs, in public.

Inspect the sources, pin relevant evidence, and share or save your excavation. The X reply flow is demonstrated below.

02 · The reply

One tag.
The whole backstory.

See how the live bot works, then open a real excavation. Follow the sources and inspect the token identity behind the narrative.

03 · What gets dug up

Four layers.
One timeline.

Time runs downward. Recent records sit near the surface. Follow the evidence toward older sources, and leave unsupported layers empty.

Layer 04
Surface
Token connections
Live indexed Solana pairs and reviewed narrative matches. Exact mints are linked; name matches stay unverified until evidence connects them.
Layer 03
Buried waves
Previous viral spikes
Earlier surges need dated social evidence. This public-source release leaves that layer unestablished when engagement history is unavailable.
Layer 02
Deep sediment
Earliest coverage found
Review dated articles and publication records. The oldest source in a dig is labelled earliest found, never proven first.
Layer 01
Bedrock
The origin
Open primary research or the underlying account. A search match is a lead; check it describes the same event before treating it as the origin.
No evidence, no markerGaps say "older source not found" or "token connection uncertain". Fossil never fills them in.
04 · Field notes from Foss

Same story.
Many digs.

Repeat wave
This discovery has been discovered four times.
Old study
The study is vintage. The panic is fresh.
Old paper, new ticker
Five-year-old paper. Seven-minute-old ticker.
Actually fresh
No older bones found. This one may actually be fresh.

The public-source research tool and @useFossil X bot are live. Tag @useFossil with “dig this” under a public post, or start a dig here without signing up. $FOSSIL watchlists and alerts are planned. Save digs, inspect real token mints, and share evidence. Payment will never change the evidence.

05 · Good questions

Ask the
excavation team.

Is the tag-and-reply bot live?

Yes. @useFossil is live and replying on X. Reply to a public post with “@useFossil dig this” to request research. The bot checks new mentions about every 60 seconds; research time and X limits can affect when your reply arrives. You can also start a dig here with no signup or wallet connection, and follow the shared activity in real time.

Does Fossil only debunk?

No. Sometimes the answer is that the paper is old but a meaningful update landed today, or that this really is the first public appearance found. Both make a good dig.

How can it say "earliest"?

It says earliest found, because it can't prove nothing older exists. When no older source turns up, the timeline says so instead of guessing.

What counts as a token connection?

Reviewed cases link the exact mint to project statements and narrative sources. Live search also returns name matches, clearly marked unverified. Pool dates do not prove mint dates, and publishers do not endorse tokens just by covering a story.

Does holding $FOSSIL change the timelines?

Never. Watchlists, deeper searches and resurfacing alerts are planned extras, not active holder benefits. This release has no wallet connection or holder gate. Evidence is the same for everyone.

What will Fossil cover first?

Science, animals, AI and unusual tech discoveries: the stories most likely to cause a "wait, this is old?" moment.

Fossil — this discovery has been discovered four times. Public posts and public records only. Not financial advice. Shared articles do not imply publisher endorsement.
